The snow is definitely coming down now in La Crosse, causing very slick road conditions out there.
Snow plows have been out all day clearing the streets.
“Make sure you’ve got your hills, curves and intersections before you come in," the La Crosse County Highway Department reminds its drivers.
Tom Niemeier has been plowing the La Crosse County Highways for 37 years.
"There are some real safe drivers and some real idiots and most the time people will not give you a break,” Niemeier explains.
He says that is one of the most frustrating parts of the job.
"The public has to be a little more patient and everything will be fine,” Niemeier adds.
Plows will be out day and night until the snow stops.
La Crosse School District Superintendent Jerry Kember says slick road conditions are just one of the factors to determine whether schools should be closed.
"We’re looking at temperature, we’re looking at wind speed, we’re looking at how much snow," Kember said.
Kember says their number one priority is student safety and will look at all the factors early Wednesday morning to determine whether school will be cancelled for the day.
