It appears there's support for a public shooting range where the Sheriff's Department practices.
Tuesday night the Eau Claire County Committee on Parks and Forest met to decide where it would like to see a public range go in. Attorney Steve Gibbs says the county is close to a settlement with residents who sued over a shooting range going in at Big Falls.
Gibbs says Tuesday night, the committee decided it would like to make improvements on the Sheriff's Department range near Fall Creek instead of building a new one. Gibbs says the site is protected from noise complaints. The county board still needs to vote on the idea.
