A driver had to be taken to the hospital after deputies say a drunk driver hit her car.
It happened near Independence on Highway 93 near Swede Valley Road a little before 6:30 p.m. Friday. Crews had the northbound lane of 93 blocked off for a time.
Trempealeau County deputies say 36-year-old John Killian from Whitehall was driving a pick up truck when he swerved into oncoming traffic and hit a car head-on. The driver in the car, 44-year-old Mellissa Sylla of Alma had to be flown to a local hospital. Deputies did not know her condition Friday night. They say both people in the car were wearing seatbelts.
Deputies say there was a child in the car and the passenger had to be taken to an Arcadia hospital, with unknown injuries.
The driver of the pick up was ticketed for operating while under the influence of intoxicants. There's no word on what intoxicants. Deputies say he was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The crash is under investigation.
