A local woman has turned her living room into a habitat for one very lucky visitor.
>
It's no joke, Patti Stangel of Eau Claire has an owl, living in the living room. But this is no ordinary owl, the little fellow was named Lucky after he was rescued with a wing injury.
>
He's now a teaching owl, who travels to more than 50 educational programs each year.
>
The tiny bird is also the star of a new picture book designed to teach kids about wildlife.
>
"It's all about Lucky and he's trying to figure out why his name is Lucky because he can't fly, so he encounters all these animals and they each have a reason why he's named Lucky," Stangel said.
>
She says Lucky needs to move around and she couldn't bear to keep him in a cage. That's why she collected branches and built him a habitat, much like what he would have had in the wild, only this habitat is right in the corner of her home.
