The recession could be taking a toll on Wisconsin’s wedding industry.
The state's Bureau of Health Information Ad Policy says the marriage rate last year was the lowest in nearly 80 years.
One clerk in Milwaukee says he issued almost five thousand marriage licenses in 2007. About 4500 has been issued this year. Sociology professors say they're not surprised, because economic circumstances generally play a large role in a couple's decision to marry.
