Second graders from St. Mary's School in Eau Claire took a trip back in time for a special lesson in local history.
The students got the chance to live the life of school children in the 1800's during a visit to the Sunnyview School in Carson Park.
It is part of a social studies unit on the pioneers they've studied for the past month.
"We just took it to the next level and they're really excited about the experience of learning what it was like to stand up and speak in a classroom," said teacher Leslie Hadt.
Students were dressed for the occasion in old fashioned clothing and even used slates to do their arithmetic problems.
