Security Meeting

The Chippewa County Security Committee passed a proposal to get two full time security guards in the county courthouse. It's one of the first steps to get the proposal approved.

Recent incidents like the attempted escape of an inmate last month got the sheriff's department working to get the full time security at the courthouse, but it still has to get passed at several other committees and then must go before the Chippewa County board for final approval.

However, a tight county budget could keep permanent security out of the courthouse because they county has set a budget to cut ten law enforcement positions over the next few years.
