They're Back

Wisconsin's insect expert says the first batches of mosquitoes should be around beginning Memorial Day weekend.

Phil Pellitter says it's too early to tell whether the added moisture from frequent rains over the state will bring additional danger this season from West Nile virus.

He says that's dependent on the interaction between mosquitoes and birds that carry the virus and spread it to insects, which then pass it to humans.

Heavy rains in recent weeks have created prime breeding grounds for an onslaught of mosquitoes.
