Domestic disturbances have been making headlines around the state this week.

From the murder-suicide in Delavan, to Wednesday's shooting in Chippewa County, and Thursday's standoff in La Crosse, police officers say the violence is concerning, but no surprise.

They respond to domestic calls each and every day.

But, though those cases are regular, they're also unpredictable and that makes them dangerous.

That's why community relations officer Jason Kaveney says officers approach domestic calls with caution.

"We keep in eye contact with each other so that we know what is going on, so we're safe and if one officer gets in trouble, another one can see that and if they have to radio for help they can," Kaveney said.

Working in teams helps decrease the risk, but Kaveney says officers are well aware of the danger.
