Chippewa Valley Technical College Officials are proposing a multi-million dollar, multi-purpose training facility in Eau Claire.

They outlined those plans to emergency response officials in a meeting Friday, hoping to create interest in the project and also funding.

The facility would cost an estimated $20 million and would be built on a 35-acre space located behind CVTC's Emergency Service Education Center. CVTC officials say it would provide valuable training to not only students, but professionals as well.

"It makes sense," says campus administrator Alan Johnson. "Those people work together on the job, so they ought to be able to train together to perfect those skills."

CVTC has been asked to present their proposal to the state's Homeland Security Committee in September.
