New year’s Eve is only two days away and that means many of you will be out celebrating.
But La Crosse Police want you to celebrate the New Year responsibly.
If you’re planning on going out on New Year’s Eve in Downtown La Crosse make sure you’ve got a designated driver.
That’s because police will be on the lookout for drunk drivers.
La Crosse Police Sergeant Kirk Flatten says they’ll have additional officers on the street.
They’ll be patrolling all over the city, but Flatten says they will pay particular attention to the downtown because of the concentration of bars and people in the area.
"We’re hoping for a nice, calm night and everyone enjoying themselves, having fun and getting home safe after their new year’s event," Flatten explained.
Sargent Fatten says if you know you’re going to drink you should have a designated driver or use a Safe Rider Program.
