Health experts say tobacco compliance rates have improved in Eau Claire County.
The City-County Health Department says the rate improved to 85 percent compliance from 71 percent last year. Compliance checks are done to make sure store employees are asking for and verifying the identification of young people buying tobacco products.
Teams use minors to try to purchase the products during the checks. If the stores don't follow the law, they are given a citation.
