June 1 is the day enrolled older Americans can use their drug discount cards.
Some card sponsors say the number of older Americans enrolling has been disappointing. However, most of the more than 70 card sponsors are silent about how many people they've signed up.
The discount cards are intended as a temporary measure until prescription drug insurance under Medicare begins in 2006.
Critics say the card program is confusing, and there have been discrepancies between prices posted on the Medicare web site and what the card sponsors say they are charging.
