Northstar Students Provide Support for Troops

Northstar Middle School students have been in a very giving mood over the past three weeks. The class of eighth graders is sending approximately 80 care packages over seas to troops in Iraq.

The shoeboxes are filled with random items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, gum, sunflower seeds, breath mints, baby wipes, chap stick, and playing cards. These gifts of appreciation will be received by the 264th Engineering unit from Chippewa Falls stationed in Iraq.

Eric Johansen a Staff Sgt. who recently returned from Iraq says the care packages are great, "As far as gifts go, just the candy, the things you used to get at home that you don't get here.

The engineering unit left for Iraq in March and will spend one year over seas.
