One Vehicle Crash on Hwy 53 Bypass
A 24-year-old Chippewa Falls man is hospitalized after a one-vehicle crash on the Highway 53 Bypass near Altoona Tuesday.

A Chippewa Falls man is hospitalized after a one vehicle crash on the Highway 53 Bypass.

Just before noon Tuesday, the 24-year-old man lost control of the vehicle he was driving on the bypass and crashed into the median, under the River Prairie Drive exit. The guardrail broke through the driver's window.

Eau Claire County Sheriff's Deputy Bob Shugarts says the man could have easily been decaputated had he not been wearing his seatbelt.

Duputies says the man admitted high speeds to be the cause. One lane of traffic was closed briefly as deputies cleared the scene.
