CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) Family and friends got to say their goodbyes Thursday as a locally based national guard company heads overseas.

A send off ceremony was held for the 829th Engineer Company at the Armory in Chippewa Falls.

Soldiers and their families enjoyed a meal together as about 160 members of the Wisconsin National Guard said goodbye to loved ones.

This will be the first deployment for about half of the company.

This will be the company's third deployment. The previous two sent them to Iraq in 2003 and 2009. The troops are expected to return in the spring of 2015.
