The largest group of union workers in Eau Claire County are currently under a pay freeze for 2010.
Eau Claire County Board Supervisor Kathleen Clark says 325 out of 525 county employees opted to freeze their wages rather than take their three percent raise. Clark says by doing that, the county will save $465,000 which will be put into savings, since there is no budget deficit.
Clark says this is a short term fix for the problem. Clark says in her 18 years working in Eau Claire County, she can't ever remember a pay freeze happening.
