Several local cities and counties will get a share of the half million dollars in federal money for Energy Independence.
The cities of Altoona, and Eau Claire as well as Eau Claire County will get grant money. The program is called 25 by 25. It's designed to increase energy efficiency, and move toward renewable energy.
Communities will create "25x25" plans to meet the governor's goal of generating 25 percent of the state's electricity and transportation fuels from renewable resources by the year 2025.
