The news out of Iraq is mostly grim. Thursday, coordinated attacks killed around 70 people and injured hundreds of others.
The news hasn’t slowed the numbers for area military recruiters. The numbers have been steady with the Marine recruiters in Eau Claire, who have signed up 8-12 people each month.
To date, the Army is reporting 1500 troops have joined up in Wisconsin, 81 from the station in Eau Claire. Officials say service trains people not only for military life, but careers afterwards.
"Once they end up leaving the service, if they choose to do so, they'll be much more marketable on the outside," says Army recruiter Sgt. Eric Rasmussen.
