Wisconsin Wardens Warned About Car Use

The state is warning all state prison wardens not to take state-owned vehicles on vacation.

The Wisconsin State Journal in Madison reports that records show that Waupun Warden Gary McCaughtery used his state gasoline credit card amd state-owned Ford Expedition for at least three vacations durng the past 18 months.

The warden denies he uses his vehicle for vacations. The Wisconsin Department of Corrections says the department's policy is based on the necessity to quickly reach wardens and that each vehicle is equipped with radio communications systems.
