Jackson County Accidents

Jackson County Sheriff's officials responded to several crashes this week.

The latest crash occurred around 4 a.m. Friday when a car ran off State Highway 27 and landed upside down in Robinson Creek. There had been two males in the vehicle, one escaped and one was still in the vehicle. Efforts by the sheriff's department to revive the second male was unsuccessful.

Sheriff's officials say the vehicle was traveling north on County Highway 27 when it ran off the road. The operator apparently overcorrected and skidded out of control ending up in Robinson Creek.

Meantime, on Thursday morning, the Jackson County Fire Department responded to a car on fire on County Highway double F in the town of Hixton.

Upon arrival, the fire department put out the fire and determined there was a male subject in the vehicle.

Authorities were unable to find any identification on the subject because the heat had destroyed virtually everything.

The accident remains under investigation.
