We have new information regarding an overnight fire on Lowes Creek Road. Township Fire says they believe the fire started by a kerosene heater. They estimate the loss at $150,000.
Firefighters say the road in that area is open again after being shut down for several hours to help crews fight the flames.
Township Fire says it happened at S-7497 Lowes Creek Road. Firefighters say they got the call just before 10 Thursday night, after the owner came home and found the house full of smoke. Firefighters say by the time they got there, the house was fully engulfed.
Fire Chief Chad Peterson says the foggy weather made getting to the fire difficult for his crews. "It definitely slowed down the response a little bit,” he says, “some of the fog got so thick I think it was less than 100 feet of visibility."
Township Fire says the fire was under control just after 11 p.m. and completely out by 2:30 Friday morning.
Crews from the Eleva Fire Department were also on scene.
Firefighters say no one was hurt, and the cause is still under investigation.
