Kentucky Plane Crash Update

Federal Investigators say a distracted pilot could have caused a deadly plane crash in Kentucky that killed a UW-Eau Claire graduate last summer.

Comair Flight 5191 crashed after the pilots steered the jet onto an unlit runway at Blue Grass Airport in Lexington. The investigation shows the captain could have been distracted by crew member conversations, and didn't do the final checks.

Crew members say the plane should have used one runway, but instead went to a dark one.

27-year-old UWEC alum, Kelly Heyer was working as a flight attendant and died in the crash. A pilot was the only survivor of the 50 people on board.
