Wisconsin Guard Unit Return Delayed

Members of the Wisconsin National Guard's 32nd Military Police Company headquartered in Madison and Milwaukee have been delayed in their return home.

The unit was scheduled to arrive Thursday, but now Wisconsin officials say they will arrive instead Friday afternoon at Volk Field in Camp Douglas. No reason was given for the delay.

The unit has been in Iraq for 14 months, and helped train members of the new Iraqi police force. They also suffered more injuries from hostile action than any Wisconsin National Guard since World War II, with 23 soldiers wounded. New Berlin unit member Michelle Witmer died in April in an ambush near Baghdad.
