Two local basketball teams headed down to Madison Wednesday morning, both hoping to win the Division 3 State Title.

We talked to fans and players at both Blair-Taylor and Eau Claire Regis on Wednesday as their respective schools sent them off with well wishes.

From proud parents to excited students, the Blair-Taylor gym was packed with an enthusiastic crowd Wednesday morning.

“Anxious, omg boys going to state it's just awesome!” Blair-Taylor cheerleader Mckenzie Berg says.

Going up against Racine St. Catherine, the pairing has been called David vs. Goliath. But the Wildcats say that only pushes them harder.

“It’s gonna be tough, but we really want it so I think we can pull it out,” Blair-Taylor cheerleader Katie Robertson says.

“Our strategy is just to go out there, play as best as we possibly can, play the way we know how to play, have fun with it and if it’s good enough, it’s good enough, and if not it's been a whale of a great season,” Blair-Taylor head basketball coach Randy Storlie says.

As the Wildcats prepare for their game on Friday, the Regis Ramblers are also making their way down to Madison.

“It’s actually really exciting to experience, I’ve always dreamed of making it to the Kohl Center,” Regis shooting guard Kyle Seyer says.

Eau Claire Regis is going up against Brillion on Friday; this is their third trip to state in the last four years.

“I remember freshman year it was just crazy down there and before we went the whole school was behind you and this years gonna be the same way, can't wait for it,“ Regis junior point guard Connor Miller tells us.

With a loss at state in recent memory, the Regis boys say they're going down to Madison with one purpose.

“Were going down with the attitude that we want to win that ball,” Regis senior forward Adam Ganske says.

Two teams, same division, with twin goals; both left for Madison Wednesday morning with a big send off.

If Regis and Blair-Taylor both win on Friday, they'll face each other at the Kohl Center on Saturday.
