Fire Inspector Retires

After more than 30 years in fire service, 23 of which have been with the Eau Claire Fire Department, Inspector Jim Onarheim is retiring.

He didn't spend his last day just eating cake and celebrating. One of his final inspections was of the Towers residence hall on the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire campus on Friday.

He says he will miss Eau Claire and all the people he's met throughout his career.
"I've always said, if you enjoy coming to work on a Monday morning, you must be doing the right job," says Onarheim. "I've looked forward to every Monday since I've been in this position."

Onarheim will join his wife in Hayward, where they run the Mystic Moose Resort, but he also plans to be active with the Sawyer County Fire and Emergency Response services.
