It was quick thinking and actions that saved a four-year-old boy's life Tuesday, but it was also first aid and CPR training.
Emergency responders like firefighters and police officers are required to have up-to-date CPR certification, but Red Cross officials say the training is important for everyone to have.
"You can't ever say it's not going to happen to you," says instructor Tara Nyseth. "You don't know if it's going to be a loved one of if it's going to be just somebody walking down the street and wouldn't it be better to know?"
The Red Cross offers classes for certification in basic CPR on a regular basis, and recommends that residents become recertified every year.
