A local family wants to thank two good Samaritans who they say helped save their house from catching fire as their garage was up in flames.
It happened around 2:30 Saturday morning on Remington Road in the Town of Union, in Eau Claire County.
The Woolsey family says they were asleep when the fire started in a wood stove in their unattached garage. They say two recent Iraq war veterans driving nearby saw the smoke, called 911, and rushed over to help until Township fire crews arrived.
The garage and an SUV inside it are a total loss, but the Woolseys say they have insurance.
