Fatal Crash on State Highway 21
We now know the names of the victim and injured child in the deadly crash on State Highway 21 Tuesday morning.

There was a deadly vehicle crash on State Highway 21 Tuesday morning.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Department says two vehicles hit nearly head on. The driver of one vehicle, a 23-year-old Melanie C. Gilkes from Sparta woman died at the scene. 13-month-old Logan Gilkes is in critical condition at Gundersen-Lutheran hospital in La Crosse.
The other driver, a 35-year-old man, was taken to the Sparta hospital then transferred to a La Crosse hospital.
The crash is still under investigation.
The driver of the second vehicle, SFC Lawrence J. Thompson, currently stationed at Fort McCoy, is listed in serious condition at St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse.
