On a vote of 8-1, the Eau Claire Plan Commission approved the plans for a restaurant and bar at 442 Water Street. Despite parking concerns from some members of the Water Street business district, officials approved the plans for the vacant strip.

The restaurant, to be called "Dooley's Pub," will go where the Camaraderie stood for many years before it was destroyed by a fire in early 2001. The "Cam" gave Water Street a nostalgic feel, but now after 3-1/2 years owner Jennifer Dooley says it is time for a change. "We will try to have our own theme, we want an Irish pub feel which is similar to the Cam."

Owning a restaurant and bar is something the Dooleys have always wanted to do. Before construction can begin, the Dooleys need final approval from the City Council.
