Prescription Drug Costs

Earlier this summer, the Food and Drug Administration investigated incoming packages from Canadian pharmacies and the contents weren't what patients were bargaining for.
FDA officials in Chicago say the drugs were generic medications that didn't have an approved equivalent in the U.S.

Since some of the medications were ordered through Wisconsin's state run Web site, the Doyle Administration has responded to the investigation by saying the drugs are approved, just not manufactured by the U.S.

On a visit to the L.E. Phillips Senior Center, U.S. Senator Herb Kohl says the FDA should instead work to make drugs more affordable.

"Their time could be better spent setting up the system so it works not trying to knock it and sick it before it even starts," says Kohl.
