Floods and Insurance
Did you know your homeowner's policy likely doesn't cover flooding?

It's not only federal money people in the flooded areas are wondering about, it's insurance money.
And as agents tell us, many peoples' insurance coverage will leave them high and dry, because homeowner's insurance won't cover flood damages.
Insurance agent Deborah Becker says many people don't buy flood coverage. She says that can be costly, because floods are the most common natural disaster in the country.
"I think that people tend not to think about this sort of thing until we see the type of disaster that we're seeing right now."
Becker says that's a problem, because FEMA, which runs the National Flood Insurance Program, requires a 30 day waiting period before anyone can get flood insurance.
