The usual reason that inmates are allowed to watch TV is because it makes them easier to manage, and keeps their mind off of undesirable activities like teaching each other how to be better criminals, or fighting with each other or with the guards, or planning an escape, or other activities that probably shouldn't be mentioned. You could take away the TV's, but then you'd probably wind up having to hire more prison employees. Besides, I don't think anyone really wants to be in jail just so they can watch basic cable (assuming the "adult entertainment" channels have been effectively blocked).
Must be nice to sit around and watch cable tv! Apparently it's now a reward to do bad things and go to jail! And people wonder why jails are overflowing!!!
Why are we paying for inmates to have cable? This is a luxury. I didn't realize that criminal behavior afforded you luxuries.
Why do these people need cable let alone tv? They are suppose to be being punished!
why should they even get tv?
