La Crosse Resident to Public Service Commission

Democratic State Senator Mark Meyer has been named to the state Public Service Commssion.

Governor Jim Doyle named Meyer of La Crosse to fill the seat left vacant by Ave Bie of Green Bay. Her term expires next March. Meyer will serve six years on the commission. The state senate must confirm the appointment.

The commission regulates more than 1,400 utilities and sets rates and service levels.

Meyer, who is 41-years-old, was elected to the senate in 2000 after serving in the state assembly from 1992 to 1998. He serves on the senate's energy and utilities committee.
