A former volunteer firefighter will spend the next several months behind bars.
Court documents show Joseph Thalacker pleaded no contest to the arson charges and will spend 9 months in jail and will have to complete 120 hours of community service. Online court records also show Thalacker cannot come in contact with the Augusta-Bridge Creek Fire Department, or wear their apparel.
Thalacker used to work as a volunteer fire fighter for Augusta-Bridge Creek. Police say Thalacker set grass fires to earn extra money for putting them out.
Police also say he was assisted by a Shawn Yule, a teen from Trempealeau County.
