Residents living on Jill Avenue in Eau Claire are hoping the city will work toward making area streets safer, starting with their own. Neighbors are upset over a resurfacing project planned to begin on Thursday which will widen their street from 28 to 32 feet. On Monday, they protested the plan. Some say city leaders twisted words to make them think the street wouldn't become and wider. A contractor told them a different story. Mary Weil live on Jill Avenue and says they don't want 14 foot boulevards on a street that has 30 houses. City Council members say they hope the protest leads to constructive ideas for this week's meeting. Eau Claire City Council member Robert Von Haden welcomes the input and says there should be enough time to resolve the major issues to protect the neighborhood.
