A.J. Hawk flies with Blue Angels

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A Green Bay Packers linebacker was given what he said is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

A.J. Hawk took a flight Wednesday with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels at the La Crosse Regional Airport.

The Blue Angels are there for the Deke Slayton Airfest.

Hawk said the Packers started organized team activities Wednesday, but he won’t miss any.

He also said he’s been trying to fly with the Blue Angels for years.

Hawk was given the flight, because of his involvement in the Key Influencer Program, which works to have a positive impact on youth.

“I’ve always been into flying and anything with the military, and I never thought it was even a reality. You know it was always a dream of mine,” said Hawk.

Deke Slayton Airfest is Saturday and Sunday at the La Crosse Regional Airport.

Grounds open at 9 a.m. and the show starts around noon.

Tickets are $10 in advance for people 13 and under, and $15 at the show.

Admission is free for kids 12 and under.
