BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. (AP) -- A 30-year-old Alma Center man faces a felony after allegedly killing a cat with a remote control car that reaches speeds of 40 miles an hour.
Brandon J. Zilk was charged Thursday in Jackson County with mistreatment of an animal.
According to court records, the cat's owner told police April 4 that she had not seen the cat named "Baby" in about four days.
A woman told police Zilk and his children were outside playing with the car when a cat tried to jump on the car. The woman said Zilk then purposely hit the cat with the car and killed it.
Zilk is scheduled for an initial court hearing Jan. 30. The charge has a maximum penalty of 1 1/2 years in prison.
