ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) -- The City of Altoona is close to having their new permanent Public Safety Director, and it's a familiar face to the departments.
The Altoona Police and Fire Commission decided Monday during a close-door session to promote investigator and interim public safety director Jesse James to the position.
James, who has been with the station for more than 12 years, is replacing James small.
Small resigned this fall citing family obligations after holding the position for nearly two years.
James says he's already got some ideas for changes for the stations.
"I'm hoping to bring more cross-training between the police and fire since we're all housed in the same building," James says. "I think there are a lot of opportunities available and I'm looking forward to implementing some new changes in regards to that."
The decision now has to be approved by the city council.
