Altoona student expelled for hacking school network

ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) -- An Altoona student has been expelled from the district for hacking into the school's computer system.

The incident happened on May 2nd. The server was knocked out for about three hours, leaving students and staff unable to use computers, but no damage was done.

Dr. Connie Biedron, the Altoona Superintendent, says the sophomore will be expelled for the rest of his high school career but will be eligible to take online classes to get his degree.
