UPDATE from ALTOONA P.D.
On 09/24/2012 the Eau Claire County District Attorney's Office issued a criminal complaint charging Michael A Sveda DOB 10/16/1964 with two counts of Hit & Run causing Injury relating to the incident that occurred on September 9, 2012 on Gloede St in the City of Altoona. Mr. Sveda was arrested by Altoona Police Department on 09/11/2012 and has remained in custody since that time. He is scheduled for an initial appearance on these charges on October 4, 2012 at 11:00 A.M.
The Altoona Police Department appreciates the assistance in this investigation which was provided by numerous citizens, businesses, and the media.
Altoona Police Department will be providing no additional information relating to this incident.
ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) – Police have made an arrest in a hit-and-run incident that left two pedestrians hurt.
Altoona Police announced that they arrested someone on Tuesday for the crime and recovered the suspect’s car. The department says it will refer the case to prosecutors for possible criminal charges.
The department’s news release did not identify the suspect or the victims.
Altoona Police Chief James Small says it all happened at the intersection of Gloede Avenue and Princeton Street in Altoona just before 7 p.m. Sunday. A man in a wheelchair and a female caregiver who was pushing him were both hit in the crash.
The two were taken by ambulance to the hospital.
The department plans to release more information later this week.

Police Chief James Small says the hit and run happened at the intersection of Gloede Avenue and Princeton Street in Altoona just before 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Small says a man in a wheelchair and a female caregiver who was pushing him were both hit in the crash.
The two were taken by ambulance to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time.
Officers are searching for a black Saturn car that fled westbound on Gloede Avenue and onto Harlem Street. The car may have damage to the right front.
