MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A Milwaukee woman has decided to run for governor as a Democrat.
Wisconsin election records indicate Marcia Mercedes Perkins quietly registered to run on Monday. When reached by phone on Friday she said she couldn't talk immediately and asked a reporter to call her back.
An Internet search didn't immediately turn up any campaign site for Mercedes Perkins and a spokeswoman for the state Democratic Party said she didn't know Mercedes Perkins.
Former Trek executive Mary Burke is the only other Democrat who has registered to run against Republican Gov. Scott Walker. State Sen. Kathleen Vinehout, an Alma Democrat, has been mulling a run but decided against it Friday, saying she needs to recuperate from a broken arm.
