ROCHESTER, MN (WEAU) --- A Chippewa Falls girl seriously hurt in a sledding accident is still recovering in the hospital.

On January 12th, 7-year-old Danica Hawke was sledding at Pinehurst Park in Eau Claire when her tube went off track and hit a tree. Danica was flown to Rochester Mayo with a broken arm, neck injury and several skull fractures. Her dad Jeremy Hawke says his daughter is doing well, but still has a long recovery ahead of her.

"Danica is doing well for the circumstances. Everything is still a struggle for her, walking, standing up but she is getting stronger and getting better," said Hawke.

Hawke says he and his wife have been traveling back and forth from the hospital in Rochester to their home. On weekends he says they bring their other two other daughters to visit.

Danica is expected to stay in the hospital for another week and then she will need extensive physical therapy at home.

There is a go-fund-me site set up to help her family with expenses. The site has already raised more than $2,500. Hawke says his family is very thankful for all the support.
