A BB gun threat prompts a lockdown at a motel in Menomonie Saturday morning.

Menomonie police say they arrested Demetrius Darnell Grimes of Menomonie just after 10 a.m. at the Super 8 Motel on N. Broadway St.

Officers say they got a report of a man with a gun who threatened a guest staying at the motel. Grimes had reportedly demanded a ride from the victim.

Witnesses told police they heard four to five shots go off. Guests were asked to stay in their rooms until the motel was determined safe.

Police say they found Grimes in the motel, along with a CO2 operated BB gun. No one was hurt.

Charges of disorderly conduct, restrictions on using facsimile firearms and bail jumping are expected. Agencies at the scene include Menomonie Police Dept., Dunn Co. Sheriff’s Dept. and UW-Stout Police Dept.
