Crash kills pedestrian in Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Crews are investigating a deadly crash involving a pedestrian.

It happened minutes before 6:00 on Highway 93 in Independence on Wednesday night.

The police chief says a car hit a woman and when crews got to the scene she was unresponsive.

They did CPR and took her to the hospital where the police chief says she died. The driver of the car was taken for a mandatory blood draw, but the chief says alcohol is not a factor.

No names are being released. There is no word on what caused the crash. Crews had to shut down Highway 93 for hours on Wednesday night.
