LA CROSSE COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) Firefighters from multiple agencies fought a massive wildfire in the northeast corner of La Crosse County on Wednesday night.

The La Crosse County Sheriff's Department says it started as a grass fire and quickly spread. Crews from Bangor, Farmington, West Salem, Holmen, and Sparta responded.

It broke out just after 5:30 Wednesday evening on Sommers Road between County Road A and Highway 162 in the Town of Burns. They say the flames were "significant" in size, nearly 25 to 30 feet high.

Crews used bulldozers to make a wall of dirt to prevent the fire from spreading.

No injuries have been reported. As for structures damages, some deer stands were destroyed.
