Hostage situation ends in Fairchild, suspect in custody

Fairchild, Wis. (WEAU) --Police got a call about a fight at a trailer home on Camp Rd. in Fairchild.

When no one answered the door or the phone, Eau Claire County Sheriff Ron Cramer says the SWAT team was called in to assist.

While neighbors were being evacuated, both the male and female inside the trailer came outside and were taken into custody.

Sheriff Ron Cramer says the male is 19-years-old and the female is 23-years-old and appear to be in a relationship.

Cramer says both people were not being cooperative.

As of 1:30 a.m., police were applying for a search warrant to search the house further. During an earlier clean sweep of the house, Cramer says an officer noticed what may be an illegal weapon.

At this point officers are holding the male because of the possible illegal weapon that seen in the house.

Sheriff Cramer says the investigation continues and at this point does not know is alcohol was involved. He says no one was injured.

Standoff ended with suspect taken into custody.
Crews were checking on woman inside.

FAIRCHILD, Wis. (WEAU) – The SWAT team is on scene of a trailer court in Fairchild as a standoff is underway.

The Eau Claire Co. Sheriff’s Department says a man is reported to be holding a woman at knife point in a home.

Lt. Rod Stearns says it is a domestic case.

Our crews on scene say around 20 law enforcement vehicle are there including the Fairchild Fire Department and ambulance.

UPDATE 11:15PM: WEAU's Kevin Hurd has spoken with Eau Claire County Sheriff Ron Cramer, who says that there is a hostage situation in Fairchild at a trailer park on Camp Road. They received a call about a man holding a women hostage and believe a pistol or knife may be involved .Law enforcement is going to evacuate a few nearby trailers as a precaution and are trying to reach out to the invidual involved. The trailer is dark inside at this time.
