NEW INFORMATION: Two children released from hospital following Chippewa Co. crash


CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) -- Two of the three children hurt in a crash in Chippewa County Sunday night are now out of the hospital.

Lt. Mitch Gibson, with the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department, says the children were released Monday. A third child is still in the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The children's ages or names haven't been released.

Deputies say the crash happened around 8 p.m. Sunday on State Hwy 29, westbound at mile marker 74, near Chippewa Falls. They say 40 year-old Chad Kohel, of River Falls, lost control of the SUV, overturned it and blocked all westbound lanes of traffic.

Kohel was arrested Sunday night for driving under the influence.

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) --Bond has been set for the man arrested in a crash that injured three children.

The driver in the crash, 40 year-old Chad Kohel of River Falls, was arrested Sunday night for driving under the influence.

Kohel appeared in Chippewa County court Monday where his bond was set at $2,500 cash.

Deputies say the crash happened around 8 p.m. Sunday on State Hwy 29, westbound at mile marker 74, near Chippewa Falls. They say Kohel lost control of the SUV, overturned it and blocked all westbound lanes of traffic.

Three kids under the age of 16 were in the car at the time, one was thrown from the SUV. They were all taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries isn't known at this time.

It happened around 8 p.m. Sunday night on State Hwy 29, westbound at mile marker 74 near Chippewa Falls.

Deputies have arrested the driver of the car, 40 year-old Chad Kohel of River Falls, for driving under the influence.

Deputies say Kohel lost control of the car, overturned it and blocked all westbound lanes of traffic.

Three kids under the age of 16 were in the car at the time, one was thrown from the vehicle.

They were all taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries isn't known at this time.

Kohel is being held at the Chippewa County Jail.

Deputies say all westbound lanes are reopen to traffic on Highway 29.
