NEW INFORMATION: Two men charged in grocery store robbery

(WEAU) – The two men arrested for the robbery at an Eau Claire grocery has been charged.

The criminal complaint says Juan Carlos Benitez-Antonio, 27, and Brandon K Goforth, 29, both from Eau Claire, have been charged with armed robbery with use of force as party to a crime.

The complaint says Benitez-Antonio admitted to robbing the Supermercado Sandoval grocery store with a gun, but said the gun was not loaded. It says Benitez-Antonio also admitted he talked Goforth into being the driver for the robbery.

The complaint says Goforth told a deputy Benitez-Antonio got about $1050 from the robbery.

NEWS RELEASE FROM EAU CLAIRE COUNTY SHERIFF’s DEPARTMENT:

On Thursday, July 19, 2012 the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Supermercardo Sandoval Mexican Grocery Store (London Road). A media release was issued about the description of the vehicle and clothing worn during the robbery. Several tips were received Saturday morning after the media release that lead to the arrest of two male subjects.

On Saturday, July 21, 2012 the Eau Claire County Sheriff's Office took Juan Carlos Benitez-Antonio, age 27, and Brandon K Goforth, age 29, both from Eau Claire into custody. Both subjects have been co-operating with law enforcement; the vehicle, clothing and three firearms that were involved in the robbery have been recovered.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Deputies have released surveillance images of a person of interest and a car believed to have been involved in Thursday night’s armed robbery in the Town of Washington.

The Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Department released the images on Friday.

On Thursday evening, deputies responded to the robbery at the Supermercado Sandoval grocery store on London Road. Investigators say a gunman went inside, asked for money, and ran out the back door.

The department says a Pontiac Bonneville, possibly 1987-1991 model year, is seen pulling up to the front of the store in the surveillance video. It says a man got out of the passenger side. He was wearing a dark colored “MMA Elite” mixed martial arts hooded sweatshirt, which has a design on the shoulder area.

TOWN OF WASHINGTON, Wis. (WEAU) - Eau Claire County deputies are looking for an armed robber Thursday night.

It happened around 8:15 p.m. on at the Supermercado Sandoval Mexican Grocery Store on London Road. A deputy say the man entered in through the front door, then pointed either a rifle or shotgun at the clerk and demanded money. He says he got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, and exited through the back door.

Deputies describe him as between 6 foot and 6 feet 4 inches tall. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with the word "elite" on the back, a black ski mask, black gloves and blue jeans.
