NEW INFORMATION: Around 650 customers still without power

(WEAU) – Xcel Energy says around 650 customers are still without power in our area as of 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

It says about 165 customers do not have power in Menomonie, while less than 300 customers are without power in Chippewa Falls. In Eau Claire, less than 100 customers do not have power.

Xcel says everyone should have their power back by midnight.

The power was knocked out early Wednesday evening, as a line of storms moved through the area.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Crews are in the process of restoring power to the near 2,300 customers who are in the dark as a storm moves through Western Wisconsin.

Xcel Energy says about 1,500 of those customers are in the Menomonie area. Another 600 without power are near Chippewa Falls. Colfax has about 70 customers without power, and the rest are scattered throughout Western Wisconsin.

Xcel says its crews are either en route to the areas with outages, or starting work on fixing the problems. The company says that the figures could rise as the storm moves through the area. All customers without power are expected to be restored before midnight.
